The Resilience Project

The Resilience Project

St Patrick’s Primary School has a strong focus on supporting student wellbeing and mental health.
One of the ways we educate students about their feelings and emotions is through implementing a program
called ‘The Resilience Project’. Students complete fortnightly lessons created by ‘The Resilience Project’ team.
These lessons are centered around Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness and Emotional Literacy (known as GEM
for short). Some of these lessons involve a ‘Take Home’ activity. Throughout the course of the year you may
see a printed lesson to complete at home if you wish to further implement the learning that students have
completed in class.

Definitions of the Terms

Gratitude – Paying attention to the things we have right now.

Empathy – Putting ourselves in the shoes of others so we feel what they are feeling.

Mindfulness – Our ability to be calm and in the present moment.

Emotional Literacy – Our ability to label our emotions.
